Voting papers for the Ngā Hau e Whā Māori Constituency will show two candidate names, although Tipa Mahuta has been elected unopposed.

Candidate statement

My principal place of residence is in the Ngā Hau e Whā Māori Constituency area.

Teenaa koutou e ngaa uri whakatupu, e ngaa marae maha, taatou hoki ngaa ohaakii o ngaa tuupuna. Kia tau ngaa manaakitanga ki too taatou Kuini Ngawaihonoitepo. Pai Maarire.
As the Ngaa Hau e Whaa ward councillor, I advocated for inclusion of whaanau, hapuu and iwi across the work of Council.
We have grown iwi and council relationships through Joint Management Agreements and by asking council to show up for and within the Maaori community.
We have advocated and supported rangatahi growth and leadership; sponsoring more than ten rangatahi to complete the Tuia programme, Summer internships and the establishment of the Wai Tii, Wai Taa Taiao Education programme.
There is a programme of taiao/ environmental reform that requires us as Maaori to respond in a lot of ways as Kaitiaki, Manawhenua, landowners and ratepayers. I am committed to ensuring we are at every table and forum that we create as Council.
