The Waikato region's biodiversity and natural environment are rich and diverse.

We’ve got New Zealand’s longest river, about a quarter of its best soils, most of its geothermal resources, the largest karst area, as well as internationally significant wetlands. We're also home to an array of amazing plant and animal species, some of which can't be found anywhere else.
