Waikato Regional Energy Inventory
About this inventory
The Waikato Regional Energy Inventory offers a comprehensive overview of the region’s energy landscape. Its purpose is to establish an up-to-date evidence base to support the review of the Waikato Regional Energy Strategy, and to enable Waikato Regional Council and local communities to engage effectively with central government on energy-related initiatives.
The inventory presents current knowledge on existing and potential energy resources, including the spatial distribution of electricity generation, transmission, and distribution across the region. It also covers renewable fuels, energy storage opportunities, the operating environment, patterns of energy demand and supply, and identifies key information gaps to be addressed in the development of the Regional Energy Strategy.
