Hauraki District Council - Discharge treated municipal wastewater to water and seasonally discharge to land

Those persons who are deemed to be affected have received a limited notification letter from Waikato Regional Council advising them that they can make a submission on the application lodged with Waikato Regional Council.
Status of application
The applicant Hauraki District Council has requested limited notification to relevant iwi and hapu. The application has been notified to seven (7) affected parties and is currently being processed.
About the proposal
Hauraki District Council has lodged an application with Waikato Regional Council to discharge treated municipal wastewater to the coastal marine area/Waitakaruru River as a replacement consent of the existing discharge consent AUTH109502.01.03.
Further to the original application in 2023, Hauraki District Council provided an addendum to the application in 2024 to include an area of seasonal (summer) discharge to land of treated municipal wastewater. The seasonal discharge to land will reduce the volume discharged to the Waitakaruru River during November to April.
Resource consent application
Consent application APP145712 was lodged with Waikato Regional Council on 23 May 2023 with an addendum to the application received on 02 April 2024. The consent was placed on hold for further information on 17 April 2024. This application includes an assessment of environmental effects.
