REGEMP II Regional geothermal geochemistry monitoring interpretation 2022

TR 2022/45

Report: TR 2022/45

Authors: James Pope and Hana Christenson (Verum Group)

Abstract

Waikato Regional Council collect monitoring data on geothermal features in the Waikato area and compile the data into a database, REGEMP. This database contains about 2393 analyses of geothermal features with variable analytical suites included.

We asked Verum Group to deliver a regional interpretation of the data including identification of spatial or temporal changes, variation or continuity within the dataset.

The purpose of the review is to:

  • provide regional geochemical interpretation
  • identify geothermal features or anomalies within the dataset that might be important for future sampling plans
  • identify other geochemical datasets that would be useful for integration in this database and might strengthen interpretations
  • identify other data sources that might improve interpretation.
