Velvetleaf

Velvetleaf is one of the world's worst cropping weeds, and it's in the Waikato region. It has spread here via unclean machinery, and infested maize crops, maize silage and maize grain.

Land drainage

Waikato Regional Council provides a drainage service for flat rural land in the Lower Waikato, Waipā, Central Waikato, West Coast and Waihou-Piako zones.

Waipā Zone Management Plan

Zone management plans (ZMPs) are the primary tools for implementation of all river and catchment management activities within each zone. Each ZMP includes the following details:

  • vision for the zone
  • strategy to achieve the vision
  • activities to implement the strategy
  • set of services levels and performance standards for the activities
  • financial strategies and funding arrangments.

Waipā Catchment Plan

The Waipā Catchment Plan outlines a 20 year plan to support the restoration and protection of the health and wellbeing of the Waipā River (and the Waikato River).
