Suspended Sediment Monitoring Report 2022-27

TR 2022-27

The Waikato Regional Council (WRC) suspended sediment monitoring programme supports the understanding and management of sediment in the region’s waterways. Suspended sediment can reduce water clarity, affect aquatic habitats, transport pollutants, and contribute to soil erosion.

The programme provides information on sediment yields and helps assess the effectiveness of soil conservation and catchment management actions. Monitoring is currently undertaken across four priority catchments: Moakurarua, Kaniwhaniwha, Matahuru and Karapiro.
