WRC Transport Committee

This Committee is responsible for:

1. Setting visions, goals and actions for transport and public transport work programmes.
2. Setting objectives, priorities, and levels of service for the operation and delivery of transport services through the Regional Land Transport Plan and public transport services through the Regional Public Transport Plan.
3. Overseeing and monitoring the performance and effectiveness of the following activities undertaken by Council against agreed strategies and plans:
   1. Strategic transport initiatives and investments – road and rail
   2. All forms of Public Transport services – bus, rail and other
   3. Community transport
   4. Total Mobility
   5. Road Safety
4. Setting Council’s advocacy position on regional issues, for discussion at the Regional Transport Committee and the RTC Public Transport Subcommittee.
5. Contributing to integrated transport and land use planning discussions and initiatives such as the Future Proof Implementation Committee, Upper North Island Strategic Alliance and Regional Deals.
6. Responding to government and external agency processes, initiatives and consultation.
7. Providing thought leadership across matters of regional transport significance.
