Te Nehenehenui Co-Governance Forum

Committee responsibilities

Waikato Regional Council has a Joint Management Agreement (JMA) with Te Nehenehenui iwi.

Established through Treaty settlement legislation, the JMA sets out agreed processes that enable iwi participation in resource consent, environmental monitoring, enforcement, and policy and planning matters within the rohe (tribal boundaries) of Te Nehenehenui iwi.

The Committee is tasked with regularly reviewing the agreement to ensure it is being implemented in a manner that satisfies all parties and aligns with the principles outlined in clauses 18 and 19.

NOTE: The Ngā Wai o Waipā (Maniapoto) Co-Governance Forum was merged into the Te Nehenehenui Co-Governance Forum.
