Raukawa Charitable Trust Joint Management Committee

Committee responsibilities

Waikato Regional Council has a Joint Management Agreement (JMA) with Raukawa iwi.

Established through Treaty settlement legislation, the JMA sets out agreed processes that enable iwi participation in resource consent, environmental monitoring, enforcement, and policy and planning matters within the rohe (tribal boundaries) of Raukawa iwi.

As guardian of the Joint Management Agreement, the Committee is responsible for:

1. Reviewing the effectiveness of the JMA in achieving its purpose.
2. Discussing issues of mutual interest to both parties.
3. Undertaking specific roles in relation to the individual Schedules, including:
   1. Making recommendations to Waikato Regional Council on the preparation, change, variation, or review of RMA planning documents.
   2. Undertaking any other tasks in accordance with the agreed Terms of Reference.
