Who are we looking for?

We're looking for rangatahi Māori (18-25 yrs) who reside within the Waikato rohe and at some level are actively contributing to the wellbeing of their community, or have an aspiration to do so.

You also need to be able to commit to:

  1. Attending five weekend wānanga held on marae around the country - three three-day and two four-day wānanga held on marae  around the country over a period of 12 months.
  2. Monthly ‘one on one’ mentoring meetings with your Waikato Regional Council, and other opportunities.
  3. Being open minded and willing to contribute to discussions and workshops.

How can you apply?

We want you to create a two-minute video where you tell us:

  • Your name and a brief self-introduction, and
  • the reasons why you should be selected for the Tuia kaupapa.

It’s easy to send us your video.

Simply access Facebook Messenger on your computer or phone and search for Waikato Regional Council to start a new conversation. Then send us your video, along with your contact details and the contact details of the community which is supporting your application (such as your marae, your sports club or a community organisation).

Please keep your video shorter than two minutes. Any videos longer than this will not be accepted.

Applications close at 4pm, Friday, 26 January 2024.
